Pacific Northwest Composer Project Submission Process (updated 08/08/08)
PURPOSE:
The purpose of Pacific Northwest Composer Project is to create a context to promote new composers' works in an environment free from intense pressure, to create a community of collaboration and inspiration, to cultivate a new classical concert paradigm, to present works that accessibly challenge and develop classical music, to re-introduce the magic and mystique of live performances of world premieres, to produce concerts of
completely original world premieres, and finally, to inspire each individual in attendance to be present to his/her own innate Art.
RESIDENCY:
Composers must be residents of Washington State or Oregon.
SUBMISSION:
To be considered for inclusion in the
May 2009 concert, please send an audio (.mp3, .wma, .mid) and manuscript sample (.sib, .pdf, .eft) to
submissions@corneliusmeloy.com by
7 November 2008. Both audio and manuscript submissions should be of the same composition.
PLEASE NOTE: This sample will be used to make inclusion decisions, so send a sample of your best work!
THE PROCESS:
After your submission is received, you will receive an
auto-generated response thanking you for your submission. The programming
committee will evaluate all submissions and announce the composers selected to
be showcased for the upcoming concert on
Friday, 21 November 2008. Only FIVE (5) composers will be selected for each concert.
After notification, the selected composers will be mailed a
contract delineating Cornelius Meloy Artistic Ventures's (CMAV) usage and rights of the
new work composed for the PNCP, and future compensation that will be provided to
the composers. The contract must be signed and returned by the deadline
stated on the contract. The selected composers, then, will have until
Friday, 19 December 2008 to notify the
CMAV of the instrumentation requirements their compositions. The new
compositions must be completed, legibly engraved (copy edited), and in the
PNCP's possession
Friday, 23 January 2009.
Failure to comply with any part of this structure will warrant
exclusion from the upcoming concert.
