Cornelius Meloy Artistic Ventures: The Story

Cornelius Meloy Artistic Ventures, LLC (CMAV) was formed 17 November 2007 with a belief that Art can make money, and Art can pay those who labor on her behalf by composer, Kevin A. Cornelius, and composer-conductor Shawn R. Meloy. In our late-twenties/early-thirties, we have already individually conducted orchestras; played in chamber classical and jazz ensembles, large orchestras, and various types of bands; composed music; and sung opera, oratorio, and musical theatre. And, these artistic pursuits have been largely non-paid, skill-developing experiences.

Labelled by The Stranger's Gavin Bouchart as "Seattle's new impresarios of new music", Shawn and I are well on our way toward creating a for-profit organization dedicated to creating an environment where artists can be artists and get paid to be artists. CMAV is a performance art production corporation. If we find Art and a performance can be produced, we'll explore the possibility of doing it. Shawn and I are both classically-trained musicians who have artistic interests ranging from electronica to improv threatre. Expect that most of our productions will involve music. Expect that we will define "performance art" broadly. We're committed to producing great, fun, and engaging productions.

Keep an eye out for our productions. Have performance/production ideas or improvements? Let us know. We are open to just about anything! Try us. Thanks for visiting and reading.
